Picnics Under the Moon

hide and seek

Study_after

Can you spot the Daydream in this adorable office? If you need a hint...

Folders_after
So cute, and a great way to use extra wallpaper. I also love those little tassels on the cabinet doors and the vintage desk. Mostly I love how it's so clean. If you could see my office now, you'd know why. (via Sans Ugly).

Storage

My fantastic friend Regina sent me a link to Hertz Furniture Systems this morning - they specialize in school, office and church furniture. Total hidden treasure! First of all, the locker storage systems above - all come in a bunch of colors (including "champagne" and "dove gray"). The lockers would be fantastic in a mudroom, or even in my boys' bathroom. And the rolling cart could hold cookbooks and pots and pans and would tuck away easily in the kitchen (also available in a variety of stylish colors). I want the shelving with the metal bins for my office - it appears that there are enough bins to organize even my excessively large collection of craft items, stationery, sewing accoutrements, camera/computer cords, etc.

Tables
This lab table and stools would fit perfectly in all the black and white, industrial style kitchens I've been seeing in all the blogs and magazines lately.

Bookshelves
They also have fantastic metal bookshelves and this great wood one with doors - all available in multiple colors and finishes. And the best thing is that everything's pretty affordable. Thanks, Regina!

something's missing...

Photo

I recently did a mini-makeover of our living room and I'm mostly liking what's going on in there now. The couch seems a bit deficient in the pillow area, though, and I think that I might need to add these:

I love these Mongolian lamb pillows from West Elm, and I think that the fluffy texture might be a nice touch. I'm also mulling over either painting just the trim in the room black, or leaving the trim white and painting the walls really dark... We'll see. Either way, it seems like a lot of work. We do have concrete plans to do one thing, though...

I recently found two rolls of this long discontinued ferm LIVING wallpaper which I've always loved, so Christiana and I are going to put this up behind my stairway either later this week or early next. Will post photos!

From Remodelista today, the ultimate NYC apartment. I've had a big New York itch lately. I used to go every 6 months or so, but the last of my friends moved out of the city last year and I just haven't had a reason to go (or a free place to stay) since. In the meantime, I will just daydream about how fabulous it would be to live in this amazing space. Two questions...

Screen shot 2010-02-16 at 2.47.05 PM
1) Could all 6 of us fit in this space? Absolutely. 2) Where am I going to come up with the $3,375,000 to make that happen? Because I would seriously rob a bank for that kitchen.

family chic

Katie McCormack of KKM Interior Design was so sweet to email us these amazing photos of her entryway. A couple of them can be seen in this Apartment Therapy house call featuring her lovely Alexandria, VA home along with additional photos of her house. Katie describes her style as "family chic" which I just love. She's certainly achieved a comfortable elegance - I love the way that her rooms look beautiful yet lived in. And the Mica Daydream wallpaper is just perfect in the entry way. I wonder if the kitty enjoys sitting there because she "daydreams" about catching all of those birds! Sorry, I couldn't resist :) Here's hoping Apartment Therapy will do a full blown House Tour so we can see more...

you can tell from the shoes

These are shoes from Danish designer Malene Birger's Spring 2010 collection.

And, above, are photos of her house (via The Style Files). You knew it was going to be amazing just from looking at those shoes, right? Her artwork is amazing - I love that vintage Chanel ad.

I'd have Lindsey Adelman Knotty Bubbles light fixtures in my bedroom. And I'd buy you a fur coat (but not a real fur coat, that's cruel).

cutting a rug

Christiana's old bedroom was featured in this Apartment Therapy post about how to use rugs in the bedroom! It's a little sad because her old place was so adorable, but I can't wait to see what she'll do in her new space and I am so glad to have her here in Minneapolis. Oh, and thanks for calling out the after as well, Apartment Therapy - we loved it, too :)

3+

I was poking around online yesterday and was DELIGHTED to discover that fabulous Made Goods has added lighting (and furniture) to their line up. This lovely chandelier caught my eye, and we decided to do today's 3 + Wallpaper around it. I added ferm LIVING's Ribbed in turquoise, Simon Pearce's new Cavendish dinner setting (be sure to check out the Cavendish vases) and Room & Board's simple dining room table. Speaking of dining room tables, we're having friends over on Saturday and I can't decide what to make. Any suggestions?

Take a look at Christiana's picks here!

impaired judgment?

Maybe it's the flu talking, but I'm really digging this new sofa by The Conran Shop. Of course, it would take a certain design aesthetic to pull it off, and I'm not really sure how you'd accessorize around it, but there's just something really bold, fun and fantastic about this piece. Okay, okay - I'll lay off the Day-Quil...
