furniture + wallpaper = fabulous

There is nothing I like better than finding projects online that use our wallpaper in fun ways - these furniture updates by Peacock Chic (which can be seen here) are just fantastic! They've inspired one of my resolutions - bring back Weekly Wallpaper Project! Now that Christiana will be in Minneapolis full time, I suspect you'll be seeing a lot more creative uses of wallpaper...

all is calm

We are spending Christmas in New Mexico with my parents this year, and I am enjoying a small moment of calm. The snow on the mountains is just lovely, it's not too cold, and we've got movies planned for later this afternoon (Avatar in 3D for hubby and I, Chipmunks for boys and grandparents, who are taking one for the team). All in all, it's a quiet Christmas Eve, and while I had to wrap a few presents today, for the first time in several years, I did not have to buy any.

In case you are not so lucky and are in need of a last minute gift, here's my favorite - Frederic Fekkai Creme Luxueuse. To call it lotion would be unacceptable - it's quite simply heaven in a tub. Trust me - your mom, sister, aunt, wife, girlfriend, or mother in law will LOVE this. Okay, now that we have that out of the way...

Christiana sent me this photo she took when we happened to be downtown with friends to watch a football game and decided to spontaneously go to Holidazzle (or as it's known around our house, Holidizzle fo' Shizzle - long story), and I think it nicely captures the spirit of the holidays. Family, friends, happiness.

rock solid idea

I'm finally home for Christmas. The flight actually went by pretty fast considering the first leg was 9 hours (and my seat couldn't recline, because it was right in front of the restroom). Then I had a 4 hour layover and the last leg was only 1 hour or so. I survived thanks to Sophie Kinsella's "Remember Me?", which is a really fun and light read although with a somewhat disappointing ending. I haven't had time to work out in a while, so I also picked up a copy of Runner's World at the airport - because I guess reading about running would somehow make me feel like I had worked out? - but I still haven't opened it.

Every year I'm excited to see what my mom has done around the house and I thought this idea was too clever not to share. She has been collecting cool rocks from her trips over the past year. And you know how rocks look so nice when wet, but once they dry, the colors get so dull? Well, she's been using clear nail polish on them! It keeps them looking natural, yet the colors are so much more vibrant and intense, just how they'd look under water. How neat?! I'll definitely have to try that myself.

wallpaper holiday wishlist: nethercote

Today's gift guide is inspired by the deep blue of Nethercote. The pouch by Show Pony would be a fun stocking stuffer, as would a bottle of Rescue Beauty Lounge's Dead Calm.
