I have been wanting a tattoo on my inner wrist for a while now, though my friends are doing their best to talk me out of it. It's going to be SUBTLE, ladies, come on! When I came across this photo, the old tattoo itch hit me big time. Thomas Brodahl hand-lettered a different quotation or song excerpt on his arm and posted the images here. Definitely worth checking out - and so's his cool blog, Surfstation. Now about that tattoo...

It's the last day of August which means fewer afternoons at the beach...

and less evening swimming/fishing/skipping rocks off the dock sessions...

 

It also means the MN State Fair which we thoroughly enjoyed yesterday!

Karen Guard of Darling Octopus used some of our wallpaper by the yard to give some furniture a makeover with really adorable results! Thanks so much for sending us the link - read more about how she did it here. You know, we've sold a BUNCH of wallpaper by the yard - anyone else have projects that we should see??

x marks the spot

Today's 3 + Wallpaper item is this X-Back chair from Wisteria, for no reason other than I really like it. Add the industrial table from The Conran Shop (the support rods echo the X in the chair, and it has a hammered marble top - so luxurious!), gray Nethercote wallpaper, and this cast resin flower chandelier from Jayson Home & Garden (because the grouping needed some prettiness and it works well with the imagery in the wallpaper).

Then I'd add the 30"x40" of this to the wall - have been stalking it on 20x200 for a month now...

prairie dawn

I just heard from our printer that the proof for our art print, Prairie, by Emily Marie Cox will be ready tomorrow! I can't wait to see it on the paper... Here's just a small swatch - it's so lovely and intricate that if I sized it down and showed you the whole thing, it just wouldn't do it justice. I adore the prairie dogs! Look for it to hit the site in about 2 weeks...

like wallpaper for your floor...

I LOVE Amy Butler's work. Love it. The fabrics, the books - can't get enough. But I felt like her bedding was sort of a miss (with the exception of the stunning Bucharest/Constanta collection). Take a look at the stunning rugs that she's designed, though - wow. So very very beautiful.

flew by

I came across this print by Gennine today and it made me a little sad because summer is almost at an end. We had oddly cool weather most of the summer, so my boys didn't get much time at the beach and pool or running through the sprinkler.

My mother took this picture of my older son a couple summers ago and it is one of my very favorites. It evokes the excitement of something as simple as a sprinkler and a hot day. It's also one of those photos where the personality of the subject is captured so exactly - the look on his face and the joyfulness of his posture is just SO him.

We're getting ready for the boys to go back to school now, but I hope that we have a nice Indian summer so that we can enjoy a few more evenings at the beach nearby and a couple Saturday and Sunday afternoons' worth of running through the sprinkler...
