While looking at blogs, this week, I came across a cute refillable fabric covered notebook idea (via Cafe Cartolina, via Papier Valise) and thought that I could adapt it to work with wallpaper. So here's our version... Oh, and be sure to check both of those blogs out because they are very lovely and really well done.
Here's what you'll need:
1. Wallpaper scraps
2. Chipboard
3. Index cards (I used blank 3x5 ones, but you can use lined ones or larger ones, too. Also, they make some that are pre-punched which I highly recommend but couldn't find when I rushed into my local office supplies store yesterday morning)
4. Eyelets
5. Binder rings
6. Spray Adhesive
7. Tools - Exacto knife, metal ruler, craft hammer, eyelet setter, hole punch
Start by cutting your chipboard to size - I used an index card as a template. I made my notebook covers a bit longer than the index card because I'm going to add a decorative edge (a la these lovelies by Oh Joy!) to the front cover.
Next, punch holes in the cover and an index card. This is where the pre-punched cards would come in handy so you can be sure your holes are lined up properly. I used a small hole punch here because my larger one was bigger than my eyelets. The size punch you use will depend on your eyelet size (make sure they are at least big enough for the binder rings to fit through).
Now use your covers as templates to cut your wallpaper to size. I'm using Amaze in red and turquoise here - anything with a smallish repeat will work, though.
Use spray adhesive to mount the paper to the chipboard. Do this outside if you don't have a spray box.
I used pinking shears to cut a decorative edge on the top cover. I left the back one straight because I hate it when the peaks don't line up and I thought a bit of the kraft color of the chipboard showing through would be cute.
Punch holes in the wallpaper lined up with the holes in the chipboard.
I cut tiny slits around the holes so I would be able to push the eyelets through. Then just set them with your eyelet setter and hammer.
Now punch holes in the index cards, or skip this entirely if you've got those handy-dandy already punched cards...
Assemble with binder clips and all you have left to do is...

Love this project Aimee!!
