This week's project - a birdhouse with some style! My mother's birthday is next week, and I thought that even though we've sent her real present (Tory Birch flip flops - mom's got style), it would be nice to send something a little more personal as well. She has a fantastic front courtyard and I think that this Pieces birdhouse will fit her modern style perfectly.
Here's what you need - wallpaper, one of these Kikkerland cardboard birdhouses, cutting mat, exacto knife, spray adhesive.
Unfold the birdhouse on top of your wallpaper to use as a template. This image is a little deceiving - you need to make sure that the outside of the birdhouse is laying on the REVERSE side of the wallpaper so it lines up right. Then just "trace" around the edge with your Exacto. I just cut slits in the wallpaper where the long vertical slits for tabs are. Then I scored the circles for the perch with a little x.
Here's what you'll end up with. Take your spray adhesive and spray the entire surface of the birdhouse - this is something you'll want to do outside or on a surface that can be thrown away. I flattened a paper grocery sack and sprayed on top of that.
Assemble per the instructions and there you go! A house any stylish bird would be happy to call home.
