While wandering around Paris, we stumbled upon a LOT of great shops, but E. Dehillerin was definitely a high point. One of Christiana's friends had recommended it to us and we just happened to pass it on the way to somewhere else, so we stopped in. About an hour later, she had to drag me out.
People who know me well will tell you that I'm very frugal, but the site of these personal sized paella pans just about put me over the edge. If I had a lot of money, do you want to know what I'd have? A set of 12 of these. And then I'd have you all over for paella! Swoon...
Their entire pastry section was incredible. I almost bought a set of mini (and I mean MINI - like an inch in circumference) tart pans till I came to my senses and realized that I don't make tarts. I do make cookies, however, and if there was any way I could have fit these Eiffel tower cookie cutters in my carry on, I'd be 4 trays into a batch right now.
I did come home with a couple things - a set of salad servers and a nice whisk for my mom and my mother in law. Paired with some fancy salt from La Grand Epicerie (another can't miss), I think that they makes a lovely gift and express "thanks for keeping my children and husband alive while I was flitting through Paris" quite nicely.
