I'm so excited that my bedroom's being featured on decor8 today (thank you, Holly!)! It all started when Aimee and I decided it was time put a how-to wallpaper video together to provide a little more evidence regarding the ease and fun of wallpapering! I'd been wanting to redo my bedroom for months, so this video and the decor8 feature provided the perfect justification/impetus for getting a move on it. Here's how the wall papered in Fairy Flower turned out.
Here's the before (and, even if you do, please don't tell me if you like it more than the after). I thought the before was not really tied together so well. The chair as a bedside table seemed a little too small, the floor lamp too far away, a wall was clearly missing some wallpaper. Not sure exactly... I just knew I was ready for a change.
Here's the after. The key ingredient: the rich and cozy paint color! I added a few knobs to display my necklaces, a pair of vintage wall lamps and a big, lush plant. I switched around the rug and throw blanket from my living room, swapped the bedding out, removed some art and accessories, and now I have a brand new room! Please note how much richer the wood headboard and side tables look against the iron mountain paint. I'm telling you, this paint is very close to miraculous. I have yet to check out how my often (and sometimes unsolicited when all I asked about was eye shadow...thanks, man at Nars counter, that was a real pick me up) described as "combination skin" looks against it, but one can only presume... flawless?
Here's another before. I moved the sheepskin rug to my living room too and the Marimekko print and pink pillows are in storage (for now).
Here's the after. Just added an acrylic table (I love acrylic furniture against wallpaper to minimize any pretty pattern blockage) and a felt cushion.
The red chair went to my office, and the floor lamp and Panton pillows moved to the living room (well, the clean pillow went to the living room; the one with bean dip on it went to the dry cleaner...)
I moved the collage art from the wall above the bed to this wall and the Hello There chair that had been serving as a night stand to the window. Anyway, it sure is amazing what a little wallpaper, paint and furniture shuffling can do!

Thank, Kat! It's Benjamin Moore, Iron Mountain.

Where did you get that gorgeous paint? I love the richness of it.

I love your bedroom makeover. I particularly love the colour you've chosen and the cute way you've displayed your jewellery on the wall. A nice touch. I'm currently re-doing my bedroom. It's a very stark change - light blue walls,French provincial style white furniture, billowy white curtains and a lovely white chair and chandalier to deep rich dark shimmery coppery walls, with black chair and chandelier (repainted)and other yet-to-be-decided-upon accessories.
Thank you for sharing yours.
Can't wait to share mine too!

Too funny! Why do make-up sales people do that? I mean we go there for a little pick me up, not to develop a whole new complex about something that hadn't occurred to us before :)
Yeah, I definitely think the iron mountain would look gorgeous with the berry black. What room were you thinking?
Good luck with the wallpapering today. I can't wait to see it!!!
And, thanks for your comment on decor8 too!

LOL! The woman at the Bobbie Brown counter once took it upon herself to tell me all about how wonderful all the new injectatable fillers and laser eyelid surgeries are and how you can't even tell you've had anything done (this while I was buying undereye concealer). Thanks, lady! I feel awesome now!
Anyway, your bedroom really looks amazing. You're right about the color of the wood against that gray -- I have a few pieces in that exact tone of reddish teak, and now I really want to try out the Iron Mountain. (I wonder how it would look with the Berry Black wallpaper? I have two rolls sitting here waiting for the right place...)
I'm off to watch the video. We're starting the Fir Tree wallpaper in the office right now! :)
